kid77 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hi,I will be in London at the end of May and like to stay at the Marriott at London Heathrow Airport due to the good reviews I read. How can I exclude that Priceline will give me another 4 star hotel in this area? Thanks for helping.Kerstin
thereuare Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages. You can't exclude a hotel from the 'bidding pool' or bid on a specific hotel. The deep discounts you see on the board are i exchange for being flexible with the actual hotel you receive... otherwise there would be no reason to book direct when you needed a specific property. With HOTWIRE you may be able to take an educated guess as to the hotel that is being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase, or determine if the offer is not a hotel you're trying to avoid (ie- if the hotel you're hoping to avoid doesn't have a Pool you can 'safely' purchase any hotel showing a Pool icon and know it's not the property you're trying to avoid), so that may be an option for you, but still involves some risk that you're guessing correctly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know if, and how, you'd like to move forward for this stay. kid77 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hi,thanks for answering.I've already booked a hotel in New York at either Priceline or Hotwire (can't remember) years ago. At this time I just had a preferred area, not a preferred hotel.Am I right, that I should book at Hotwire rather than on Priceline because Priceline doesn't show any amenities before?Kerstin
yellowdog Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 kid77Am I right, that I should book at Hotwire rather than on Priceline because Priceline doesn't show any amenities before?Yes, most of the times can we do an educated guess on the property. If you need help with an ID so please list the star rating, zone and amenties HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll have a look at this. All reported HOTWIRE hotel for London can be found in this linkYellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
kid77 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Ouch, there is no Marriott London Heathrow in the list. Guess I have to book at PRICELINE and to cross my fingers :)

kid77 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 If you need help with a bidding strategy let us know the dates of your stay and your maximum bid amount and we'll advise accordingly. We'll arrive at May 25th and leave at June 1th (7 nights) and need a room for two at 4 star hotel. Marriott would be fine, but Hilton as well.Budget is 80 Dollar per night incl. fees. The less the better :-)
Sweetone Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 The Sheraton Skyline was okay a couple of years ago.
Romelle Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 If you enter "heathrow" in the Quick Search box straight above on this page, you can see lots of other bidder results for the airport hotels. Rates are very date-specific though. I did check on the Calendar of Wins (also above, center of page here) and thus far there aren't any Heathrow wins reported for any of your dates.Romelle
kid77 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 I know. I've checked all of this as well :)
thereuare Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 As you have some time before your stay i think you have some time to lowball and increase gradually, i'd begin as follows:At the 4* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Heathrow...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and re-try:Select 4* Heathrow...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60Then every 24 hours try the following price combinations:$63/$65$68/$70$73/$75Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding each time.Good luck and keep us updated on your progress. kid77 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 Thank you so much. You are very kind :-)I think I understood the re-bidding. When I want a 4 star superior hotel in Heathrow at priceline, Luton and Gatwick are the other zones. Luton is the only one without a 4 star superior hotel (only 2 and 3 star), so this will be my re-bid zone.Edit: Tried 53 and 55 $ - both had been rejected. I'll try again tomorrow.
thereuare Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Please remember to start your bids with the PRICELINE links on the board.Good luck on your next round of bidding. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
