PrincessChuffy Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Hi, My wife and I are travelling to New York from 13th-19 May 2011. We're looking to stay in a central location, preferably around TSQ/MTW/MTE/CPS/UWS/MSG as it is a sightseeing trip we're on.We'd like a minimum of 3* accommodation and our our maximum budget is around $150 per night plus taxes, is this realistic as it is peak season?Location and price are most important to us as we won't spend much time in the room. We're new to Priceline so any help is very much appreciated. We will use the PRICELINE link for our bids and let you know how we go.Cheers
thereuare Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm guessing your budget may fall a little short for these dates, but we can certainly give it a try and then determine your options from there. However, to get started...Have you ever been to NYC before as i'm not so certain of your zone choices:UWS - the zone goes a bit far north and may not be considered 'central' by many users. As well, at less than 4* you're more likely going to end up in the middle/north then in the southern part of the zoneMTE - at less than 4* there are some 'known' hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be acceptable?CPS - at less than 4* the Hudson Hotel is a possibility, which while ok reviews and a great location, the rooms are very small, even by NYC standards, would this be acceptable?Let us know the above so we can confirm which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PrincessChuffy Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 Hi again,This will be our first trip to NYC (very excited!). We initially selected zones that looked central but are open to suggestions. We would choose to be in a smaller room if it meant that we would be located in a more 'central' area. We would want to be within 5 - 10 mins walk of a subway and would not be keen on the north side of UWS if it is not central. If we're not going to be able to get what we want from our budget please could you suggest how much this is likely to cost us and maybe we can save a bit more. Many thanksPete
thereuare Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'll look at this in a bit more detail, but while i'm researching, can you let us know if SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
