babarage Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 For a trip in May (18th - 22nd, 4 nts) I have started looking and bidding on hotels in London. No luck yet. Highest bid is 120, really expected to land something with that in the Westminster, Mayfair, Bloomsbury area. Maybe it is still a bit early but I was hoping to have this done by now. Anyway, maybe it is better to expand my areas. I have been looking at the Chelsea Knightsbridge (priceline gives a median retail price of 221 for a four star there) but am confused what hotels have actually been reported in that area. Does anyone know?As always I use the PRICELINE links on this board.
thereuare Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I assume you're bidding at the 4* level? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
babarage Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 I assume you're bidding at the 4* level?yes, that is correct.
yellowdog Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 babarageAll PRICELINE hotels reported for London can be found in the Priceline Hotel List.I don't think $120 will cut it with current rates for your preferred zones. You can try the Chelsea - Knightsbridge zone but i think you'll fall short if bidding 4*What would your max budget/night be before tax/fee when it comes to 4*? Yellowdog.
babarage Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 babarageAll PRICELINE hotels reported for London can be found in the Priceline Hotel List.but with the zone being split up, which hotels are in the chelsea knightsbridge area? the belgravia seems to have gone out of business by the way.I don't think $120 will cut it with current rates for your preferred zones. You can try the Chelsea - Knightsbridge zone but i think you'll fall short if bidding 4*What would your max budget/night be before tax/fee when it comes to 4*? Yellowdog.well, 120 is pretty much my max budget, also because I might as well book a hotel with a site like booking.com for the same price knowing what i'll get...I think. Not sure. Maybe I'll book a backup hotel and keep bidding for hotels stopping at the 120 mark. If I get lucky, good, if not... too bad.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 I've added the new zone names next to each hotel in the list for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. chorltongary Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 As I have said in the post above regarding my "win"- priceline now seem to be including the millenium copthorne at Chelsea Fc in the Chelsea and Knightsbridge area
babarage Posted April 29, 2011 Author Report Posted April 29, 2011 well the bidding for this stay was going nowhere so I booked a hotel without using priceline or hotwire. there is no fee to cancel this hotel tho so I might try again a few days before our departure.
thereuare Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Where and how much is your back-up reservation? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. babarage Posted April 30, 2011 Author Report Posted April 30, 2011 Where and how much is your back-up reservation? We booked the Blakemore hotel Hyde Park (executive room with continental breakfast) for about 200 dollars a night. My husband stayed here in the past and liked it very much so another reason to go back to this hotel.
thereuare Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Glad you found something which your husband is familiar with and works for your needs... but there is a pretty wide gap between this $200 rate and your $120 maximum bid. Let us know of any changes and if we can be of further help if you continue to try PRICELINE in hopes of a better/cheaper deal. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
