thereuare Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Looking for a 3.5/4* room close to Time Square...See our thoughts here: Hotels Near Times Square... preferably a suite.PRICELINE and HOTWIRE reservations are for standard rooms... there is no way to bid on suites or upgraded accommodations. An upgrade may occur at check-in, or you can offer to pay extra for an upgrade, but this isn't something which you can count on.Total of 8 people and will need 2 rooms.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Given this is NYC, where space is at a premium, many rooms only have one bed and can't accommodate a roll-a-way, so the risk here is greater (then say in an area accustomed to catering to families, such as Orland). Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. amin Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 Any of these areas will work (MidtownEast, MidtownWest, and UpperMidtown/CentralParkSouth).I think I'll take the chance with Priceline. Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I think I'll take the chance with Priceline.I don't recommend it... but it's your trip.Any of these areas will work (MidtownEast, MidtownWest, and UpperMidtown/CentralParkSouth).Note that at the 3.5* level the MTE zone has some hotels which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be acceptable? Also at the 3.5* level, the CPS zone contains the Hudson Hotel, which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... you may want to re-consider this zone, ESPECIALLY if you're hoping for quad occupancy, as landing this property would almost certainly be an issue.Looking for a 3.5/4* roomAre you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. amin Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 We have 4 kids under 12 so the 15 minute walk to subway may not work. I would also like to avoid getting the Hudson and willing to pay a little more to get something close to what we need.Thanks.

I would also like to avoid getting the Hudson...Least expensive 3.5* or better.Since at the 3.5* level you want to avoid the MTE and CPS zones (due to subway distance and Hudson Hotel, respectively) this leaves you with only bidding the MTW zone... is this the only zone acceptable? What about ESB, MSG and/or TS?As a reference/food for thought... you could get what i'm guessing to be the 3* Holiday Inn Midtown 57th Street for quad occupancy for $152/nite... or what i'm guessing is the 3.5* New Yorker Ramada Plaza for $189/nite (again, for quad occupancy)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
