zzdocxx Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 I reviewed the recent winning bids here and just shot for $40 to see if I could get it done quickly and easily.Won on first try (Bloomington West Zone) for the Sheraton Bloomington, no rebidding was needed.6/2 through 6/4 is a Thursday through Sunday.I think their preferred guest program is through Starwood, does anyone know if there is an advantage to joining? :)
yellowdog Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Thank you for sharing your result with the board!Enjoy your stay.Starwood will not honor any points for PRICELINE stays. But you might get a better room if you're lucky. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
zzdocxx Posted March 17, 2011 Author Report Posted March 17, 2011 Just as a post-script to this, I had called Sheraton to inquire about the preferred guest plan prior to bidding on Priceline.A nice but rather aggressive lady with an NY accent pushed for a reservation, the rate was $219. :)
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 PRICELINE reservations are not eligible for rewards programs. You can try asking at check-in and presenting your number, but they may say no. Some people have been successful at various properties (and various chains), quite a few have been told no (or you may get some of the benefits, but not the points - it all depends, but be prepared for them to say no.)Certainly a pretty remarkable discount off regular rate! Enjoy your stay.
zzdocxx Posted March 18, 2011 Author Report Posted March 18, 2011 I was just hoping for something like the use of a fitness center, free wifi, stuff like that.I've looked online and seen rooms there from around ~$115 to over $200, it really is amazing. There is no way I would even think about trying this without the help I have gotten from this forum.:)Yes and BTW I did indeed use the link from this website to go to PRICELINE.
