musicman84 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Hi I need help identifying the following hotel :Midtown East area Hotel 4 StarsFitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High Speed Internet, SPA $124/night for 3/25/2011 - 3/27/2011From my research it seems like it could be the W hotel.. would this be fair to assume? Also, since I've never used Hotwire before : If I book a room at a discounted rate through Hotwire, can I still upgrade the room (by paying a little more) @ check in? Or does the room get locked in and I'm pretty much stuck with that room (i.e. can't upgrade to a bigger room etc)?Help is appreciated!!!Jay
AaronJB Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)HOTWIRE only ensures a regular/non-upgraded room. You can ask regarding upgrades, but the hotel could definitely - whether due to availability, policy or both - say no. If you are willing to pay an upgrade fee, you can negotiate, but it will really all depend on the hotel and possibly the day.My guess would be the W New York.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
musicman84 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Report Posted March 17, 2011 Not sure if this is taboo, but what if the "upgrade" I request is in the form of a $20 dollar (or 50) sandwhiched between my credit card and ID when checking in and asking the check in clerk if there was anything he/she could do to take care of me? Anyone have any experience with this in NYC?
AaronJB Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 This is fairly commonly discussed in regards to Vegas and has been met with varying degrees of success. It's not really much discussed for other areas. I'd think it's less likely in NYC, but you could always try it.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
