rg654 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I am trying to book a hotel in fort lauderdale beach area for the Sat. and Sun. nights of Memorial Day weekend. I was about to book what I think was the Westin Beach Resort (based on the icon description) for $97 per night on Monday. I went to confirm it and they said there were no more rooms available at this price. A hotel with the following amenities is now available on hotwire for $113-- Near Beach, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurants, Business Center, Laundry, Internet, Tennis and Children's activities (when I click on all amenities). Two questions I was hoping to gauge everyone's temperature on:1. Is this the Westin Beach Resort; if not, what is it?2. What are the chances that the price will drop again? Should I jump on this now before the price goes up or be a little patient (I know there are no guarantees, just trying to gauge if there is consensus one way or another).Anyone have suggestions for next steps? Should I consider any of the other properties identifiable through HW as they are comparable to the Westin? I cringe at the idea of using PL because my sense is that some of the 4 star hotels on PL in the beach area are not as solid as the Westin (but I am so tempted based on the calendar of wins which indicated a win for this propert last week at $85).Thanks for any and all thoughts!

Westin is top notch! Have in mind that you can get the Hyatt Pier 66 when bidding 4*. And you'll get the old wing if you hit this. And the location for this hotel isn't the best comparing to Westin.Let us know how you want to proceed.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
rg654 Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 I think I will then use hotwire to make the purchase. Do you think I am right in my conclusion that the $113 property is the Westin. Do you have thoughts on if I should lock it in now or try waiting?
yellowdog Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 My guess is that this property is the Westin.I can't advise you if you should book now or wait. Please read this link: Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival DatePlease use the site's HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.Yellowdog.PS. Please remember follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancell your trip, etc.
