Priceline Hotel: Easy Priceline question!

Is it safe to assume that if one obtains a room through Priceline bidding, they will be able to fit 2 adults + 1 child into that room? (Yes I know they guarantee 2 adults comfortably)

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

PRICELINE rooms guarantee 1 bed/double occupancy. Many people do use PRICELINE for parties of more than 2, but there is no guarantee that the hotel is going to be willing or able (or may charge more) to provide more than one bed. HOTWIRE is generally a better choice in this case, given the ability to indicate how many adults/children.

One can contact the hotel to work out bedding issues before the stay, but if the hotel says no to more than one bed, some people may try to figure out alternate plans (such as bringing a sleeping bag, etc.) It depends on the area, as well; in some major cities, rooms at some properties may not be big enough for a rollaway. In some areas, people (usually) don't seem to have much trouble with requesting two beds (although again, no guarantees.)

If you would like assistance with your stay, please provide the date/s of travel and destination, as well as desired budget per night.

Thank you AaronJB for your prompt and informative reply!

Our planned trip is from April 16 - 19 in Philadelphia (either Downtown or University area). 2 rooms at 40-70 dollars each per night.

I am pretty determined to use Priceline over Hotwire due to the substantial savings.

I think your budget may fall a little short on this one, but if you want to give it a try...

At the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3.5* Downtown and University...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I bid up to 70$ for 3.5* as thereuare suggested but no luck. I am a bit confused as to why prices are so high. I see on this forum that people were getting 3.5* rooms for 60$ and under in February...

As mentioned above, based upon current rated i did think that your budget would likely fall a little short.

Rates are date specific and can vary greatly from one day to the next, not to mention from February (cold winter month) to April (nicer Spring time to travel). As well, besides seasonal factors, there could be some event(s) taking place in the city during these dates and/or are one of the universities, which could also effect demand (and therefore rates)

What is the best deal you're able to find at a 3.5* or better hotel for these dates?

Go to lastminutetravel.com....3* Holiday Inn Historic District $86, 3.5* Crowne Plaza $86 as well. I am going to be in Philly in the beginning of April, I booked Holiday Inn Historic District via lastminutetravel (I had the same issue you did, I tried for a week on Priceline with no luck) and called after my reservation was confirmed to ask for double beds in each room. (Lastminutetravel gives you an option to check on bed preference, I checked 2 beds per room and when I called they originally had me down for 1 bed in each room) They accepted my request and I just hope they live up to their word when I check in.

As noted above, in major cities in the North half of the country, prices do ramp up as the weather gets nicer - this is being seen in several major cities, with Chicago and NYC (as well as others) showing moderate-to-significant increases in the rates seen in April/May vs. Feb/Mar.

Based upon the rates that I'm seeing, my hope (it may take higher) would be that you would be successful at the 3.5* level in the $85-95 range.
