lala22 Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Hi, This is my first time posting on betterbidding.I'm looking for a 3*+ hotel for 5 nights between 4-9 April 2011.The description is $129 Empire State buildingAmenities include SuiteFitness CentreKitchenetteLaundry (self service)Rated 75% by reviewersIf it's for the same hotel, will I generally be able to name a bette rate myself on Priceline than on Hotwire?Thank you!
lala22 Posted March 13, 2011 Author Report Posted March 13, 2011 Hi there,I'm trying to find a 3.5* / 4* in Manhattan - anything south of than UES / UWS.Ideally I would want to pay around $130, and I'm wondering if there could be chances of getting a hotel that has complimentary internet access. Please advise what's the best strategy.Thank you!
AaronJB Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 The 3* would be a match for the Murray Hill East Suites. There is no way to get a particular property via PRICELINE, but you could likely get a 3* in this area for at least moderately less than $129, however, I think a 4* would likely take more than $130 in Midtown. Which route would you be more interested in taking - going for a more reasonable 3* in this area or trying for a 4* (although that would be at least moderately more than $130.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
lala22 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi Aaron,Thanks for your reply!I'm thinking of a more moderately priced hotel, prefereably near SoHo / Times Square or Mid Town rather than Wall Street. With a $100-$120 budget do you think I can score a 3.5* in April, or should I aim for a 3*?Thanks again in Advance.Lilian

Which PRICELINE zones are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lala22 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi all,Apologies for all the confusion. Originally I was thinking of $130 for a 4* and I'd want to stay anywhere south of UES / UWS, but knowing it's nearly impossible to do that, I'm wondering the possibility of spending of $100-$120 on a 3* or 3.5* in Chelsea / Soho / MTE / MTW / Madison Square / Hell's Kitchen.Thank you!
thereuare Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 ...prefereably near SoHo / Times Square or Mid Town rather than Wall Street.I'm wondering the possibility of spending of $100-$120 on a 3* or 3.5* in Chelsea / Soho / MTE / MTW / Madison Square / Hell's Kitchen.Soho is part of the larger Downtown-Financial zone, which also includes the Wall Street area... is this acceptable OR are you only looking to stay in the Soho part of the zone? When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to stay anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone you select, you can't choose or target only part of the zone. Are you willing to stay anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the other zones you have listed? In the MTE zone are you comfortable with the location of some of the less then 4* rated hotels (such as the Millennium UN) which can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway? Is the CPS zone are you comfortable with the notoriously small rooms of the Hudson Hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lala22 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi,Thanks for your reply, I'm willing to stay in the whole downtown area and also in the Hudson Hotel.Thank you!Lilian

thereuare Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Sorry, one more question...Although i think your budget would be a bit of a stretch, did you want to try for a 3.5* up to your limit first, then if rejected try for a 3*... OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lala22 Posted March 15, 2011 Author Report Posted March 15, 2011 would love to try for a 3.5* first if it doesn't sound altogether impossible.thank you!
