Nell Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 My husband and 18 yr old daughter are visiting DC for the first time 3/19-26 and planning to do the usual tourist things (Capitol & White House visits already scheduled, museums, shopping, Mt Vernon, etc). We have bid twice on Priceline for a 3.5 star ($95 & 105) for a hotel in the White House - Downtown DC area with no win but have not yet expanded our area. The White House -Downtown DC seems to cover the most desirable area to be in for this visit. I don't see hotels won on the list with week long stays. Is getting a week long stay more difficult than one of just two or three days? If any one has any suggestions, would appreciate them. Thank you! :)
AaronJB Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Rates during these dates appear elevated when searching on HOTWIRE, with a 4* in the White House-Cap Hill zone at $155 and 4*'s higher in some of the other core zones of the city. While lengthier stays are sometimes problematic, I think unfortunately a higher bid will be required for these dates for a 4*. What would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Nell Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 Thanks Aaron for your input. Max desired budget per night including taxes is $150. Have been requesting 3.5*. Am thinking of expanding to the Georgetown-Foggy Bottom area & possibly going down to a 3* if necessary. I like the Dupont Circle area but don't want to be as far north as it extends. I rebid last night at $111 with the second area indicated also but did not win. I would appreciate any further input you might have. Thanks.
thereuare Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 What is more important to you, price or location? It appears that you have only bid up to $111 thus far, which even including taxes and fees, is below your $150 limit... do you want to bid higher for your preferred zone(s) or seek a lower price in alternate areas?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Please click this PRICELINE link before replying and use the requested links on the board to begin your future bidding, searches and travel purchases.Thanks.
