mhayes86 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Greetings! This is my first time using Priceline/Hotwire, and in the process of looking some things up, I came across the Betterbidding website. I'm trying Priceline at the moment, and I've been reading a lot of the success stories and tips for landing a good deal here, but with no success over the last couple days, I decided to post for some of your suggestions!I'm hoping to book a hotel for next weekend, March 18 - March 20, preferably around Times Square in the regions of TS, ESB, MSG, MTE, and MTW. As of now, my highest bid is $120 in these regions for 3stars and up, and my lowest being $100 for 2stars and up.I'd prefer not to, but I'm willing to go up to $150. Does anyone have any suggestions?Thank you!
AaronJB Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Sorry to hear that your bids haven't been accepted. :) I think that your best bet at the 4* level is likely to be the ESB/MTE areas, although given rates, I do think that it may still take $135-150 for a win in these areas. I'd continue higher by $5's using re-bidding,, but again, I think MTE/ESB are probably the more likely areas for success.I would not recommend bidding below 3* in NYC and especially below 2.5*, due to varying quality and other issues (especially below the 2.5* level.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Based upon Aaron's comments above how do you want to proceed...Do you want to bid for a 3* (or a 3.5*) up to your limit before considering lowering the star rating? Also, are you avoiding the CPS zone as you want to stay away from the small rooms at the Hudson or is that an acceptable zone as well? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mhayes86 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 CPS would also be acceptable, I just forgot to add it. I'm not picky with room sizes since I'll be out in the city all weekend and just need a place for the nights that's close to the attractions (going to a Broadway performance). Also, I think I would prefer bidding for a 3.5* towards my max limit before lowering the star rating. Thanks!
mhayes86 Posted March 12, 2011 Author Report Posted March 12, 2011 I just wanted to say that I was successful in getting a hotel! I managed to get the Radisson Lexington for $155 in MTE after numerous failed attempts in all previously mentioned regions up to $150 for 3 1/2*.I'm only hoping that this is a decent hotel. It's in an excellent location (walking distance from Times Square), and most complaints seem to be about small rooms, but that's the least of my concerns.
