Penguinie Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Hi, Any idea what the follow hotels might be?Try for 03/11 - 03/16: 2 Rooms, 2 adults 2 kids3.5* for $70. Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre and High-Speed Internet Access80% Recommendation4* for Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre and High-Speed Internet Access95% Recommendation.Thanks.
AaronJB Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Are you still seeing the same 3.5* listing when searching? A different listing is appearing when searching this morning. The 4* amenity set has been reported with the Omni, Knickerbocker, Sutton, Drake, Westin Michigan Ave. and the Allerton. It could be any of that bunch. To offer another suggestion, the Embassy Suites Downtown, which is really well-located (plus larger room, breakfast and evening reception) is $119 on Expedia for these dates. If you use coupon code FROST11 that takes $10 off per night - $109. Somewhat more expensive, but free breakfast/reception/larger room. And again, superb location a block from a subway station.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
Penguinie Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Thanks for the suggestion. I think the same hotel is showing up but I migth have the recommandation mixed up. $72 3.5* Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre and High Speed Internet with 95% Recommandation$79 4* Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre and High Speed Internet with 80% Recommandation. I am hoping to book the OMNI but with the 3.5 / 5 rating on trip advisor it seems more likely to be the W Chicago. There is one more 3.5* in the Museum Campus - McCormick Place - Soldier Field area Hotel area. Non Smoking, Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre and High Speed Internet with 90% Recommandation. Any suggestion what this might be? Can't seem to match any properties on the list. I will definitely look into the Embassy Suite as my wife mentioned that a few times. Any idea how much the prices / options flucatuates? would it be cheaper if I wait till closer to our travel dates?Cheers,P

Penguinie Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 I am so sorry! I meant to say Mar 13!P
thereuare Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 As far as when to purchase you can read the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ, but you're only 2 days away from check-in, i don't see any reason to wait... 4* and 3.5* hotels in Downtown Chicago for quad occupancy and under $80/nite... the risk would certainly be towards prices moving higher then for them to move much lower, imo. However, the bigger question is how you feel about the possible outcomes for the hotels above... if you like these offers they may not be around in a day or two, or even later today, as HOTWIRE offers can disappear at any time (and the risk is if they're replaced with possible hotels which you may not like as much)Lastly, are you familiar with Chicago? As the Museum Campus-McCormick Place-Soldier Field zone is not really that convenient for the average visitor unless the primary purpose is to attend a convention and not heading out into the city after working hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Penguinie Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Thank you for the tip. We are not familiar with Chicago at all. Was going to take the kids on a road trip during March Break. Just a follow up tho, we end up not booking through HOTWIRE. Wyndham Chicago Downtown had a very good promotion with their Navy Pier Package that included parking and complementary breakfasts for $159/night. Cheers,P
thereuare Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Glad you found something which works well for your plans, but not sure just how great of a deal this necessarily is. If you break it down using the HOTWIRE rates above:$80 hotel$30 parkingWould still leave you $50 for breakfast each day... anything less would have been extra money in your own pocket.
