Total Charges - $150 Two nights + $31.60 taxes and charges = $181.60

I was really hoping for the Palmer House. I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chicago a few months ago and was NOT impressed. I thought to myself before booking that it would be terrible if I ended up there again, and I did. :)

Was this really just bad luck on my part or is there some sort of bidding strategy?

Anyway, hopefully this information will be useful to someone and they have better luck than I did.

When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select. If there is a particular hotel you're trying to target, or avoid, HOTWIRE may be a better option since you can often use the amenities shown to guess or exclude certain properties from the possibilities (ie- if the hotel you're trying to avoid doesn't have a pool, you can 'safely' purchase any hotel showing the Pool icon)
