samlooker Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I would like to get Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Cente from Hotwire on 6/17 to 6/23. I have a couple of questions, will apprecriate any help here:1) I saw a hotel listed in Hotwire as "Disney Main Gate - Celebration area hotel", 4.5 star Can I assume it is the Gaylord Palms?2) Yesterday I saw it listed as $98, which is at my price point. Today when I checked it (the same hotel describtion) is listed as $169. Since June is still far away, can I expect it to come back to the $100 price point at some time, or it would go higher since it's closer to the date? Thanks!

samlooker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Yellowdog,Just updated that thread with our Paris trip.
AaronJB Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Please provide the amenity icons showing with the listing. To see the full set, you may have to click "see details" then click "see all amenities." There is no way to know for sure whether prices will come back down to the $100 range.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
samlooker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Amenities :Resort Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby In "details: it prints Spa Services, but I don't see the iron on the main page.It also says it charges $20 resort fee per night.Through your link I see it comes back at $94 (6/17 - 6/23).Thanks
yellowdog Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Do you also see a High-Speed Internet icon for this property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
samlooker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Yes. The icon is there, but the "see all" pop up does not show it.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Here is what i'm seeing:4.5* Main Gate - CelebrationResort, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet, Golf, Tennis, SpaIf this is what you're seeing then this is a match for the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate and that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. samlooker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Could you let me know how to identify the Gaylord Palms one? the 2 seems to have very similar amenities. In my dates (6/17 - 6/23) did you see the Gaylord Palms?I looked at this prior link but still couldn't be sure:Hotwire OrlandoThanks!
thereuare Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Don't use previous post(s) to identify hotels as star ratings and amenities change over time... instead use the Hotwire Hotel List which is updated as new information is received. The star ratings and amenities can still be different then the hotel list since we only know of a change once it's reported as a win (and you could be the first to reported a new star rating, hotel, or amenity combination for a given property)... but if you're looking for the Gaylord Palms it was last reported as a 4* hotel thru HOTWIRE and while similar, has different amenities then the Omni.As well, realize that with all the changes which take place, and new hotels added/removed often, if you try to use the opaque providers with only one specific hotel in mind, you're potentially setting yourself up for disappointment... while it's OK to hope for a particular outcome, if you'll be disappointed with receiving something else, then the opaque providers may not be the best option for this particular stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. samlooker Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 thereuare,Very useful info, thanks a lot.one thing I think could shed some light on it is the resort fee. From their own web sites I can tell, the Gaylord Palms charges $15 a day; omni charges $16. The one I saw on hotwire charges $20, any idea which 4.5 star resort in Celebration area would charge that amount?
thereuare Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 The actual wording:The hotel collects this fee of about US$ 20 per room per night directly from you, so it won't show in your Hotwire total(emphasis added by me)$15 and $16 are both close enough to about $20 that this shouldn't be used to differentiate one hotel from the other, but as noted above, there are enough differences between these two properties that you shouldn't be confusing the two. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. samlooker Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Wanted to report back, that this evening I booked on priceline (through your link) the Omni Resort At Champions Gate at $80/night, from 6/17/11 to 6/23/11.I started at $68, with $2 incremental on rebid zones (did not add Lake Buena Vista - Downtown to avoid the Hilton). I was making my last try the night at $80, in fact after placing that bid I moved on to watch something else. When I came back I saw it was accepted. Was really hopping to get the palms. Now hope Omni is good too. One big factor of wanting the Palms is it has double queens, as oppose to the double doubles in Omni.Speaking about doubles, after the bid was accepted, I chatted with Omni online chart service. I told them we have 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children, and asked if we could have a king and rollover. The gentleman replied it can be requested but not guaranteed. I then asked what "minimum" I COULD get (in theory), he said would be either 1 king or 2 double beds. So it would at least be OK for us.Thank you both yellowdog and thereuare for your help.
AaronJB Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)I just booked this property the other week for a relative and they didn't want to leave the next day (and they paid more.) While reviews do vary, hopefully you'll have a good stay.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
