Hotwire Hotel: 4* Ft Lauderdale (Weston-Plantation-Davie) Hyatt Bonaventure

Looking for a post-cruise hotel for just one night. Looking at a 4* in the Weston area, and I'm guessing it is the Hyatt Regency Bonaventura.

I will need two rooms for my family (2 adults, 3 kids) and my parents. Was planning to have one room with 2 A 2C, and the other with 2 adults and 1 child.

I noticed that if entering 2 adults and 2 kids in Hotwire it gives me a cheaper rate ($124) than if entering 4 adults ($161). I can't imagine it being related to having one king vs two doubles as there would be no way 4 people could fit in one bed. Also on the Hyatt's website the pricing for a room with 2 doubles vs 1 king are the same, Anyone have any ideas about why there would be such a difference in price? Or if you list kids will they expect them to be crammed into one bed?

I do notice on the hotel's website that their King rooms aren't listed as having sofabeds but are listed as fitting 2-4 people. When entering in the same information on the hotel's website, they offer both a king room as well as two-double bed room regardless of entering 4 adults vs 2 A/2C although it is $10 more/night for the former.

Thanks in advance,

I replied to the other thread above (for which I didn't end up booking through Hotwire so can't comment on what that hotel was).

Hoping I can get some help with my question above. Thank you in advance.

The occupancy you enter is the total for all rooms... so shouldn't you be entering 2rooms/4adults/3children which yields the ~$124/nite rate? What would be your objective of searching for some other adult/children combination?

Yes, when I enter in 2 rooms for 4 adults and 3 children I do get the $124/nite rate. Entering 2 rooms for 7 adults results in a $161/nt rate.

However because I wanted to make sure that the room that will hold 2 adults and 2 kids has two double beds, i wanted to check here to see to get opinions whether people thought the difference in rate could mean I may get rooms with just one king for that lower rate.

Thanks in advance.

Most 'standard' hotel rooms won't accommodate more than quad occupancy, so be selecting two rooms i'm fairly certain the hotel will break the reservation into quad occupancy in one room and triple occupancy in the other room. All that is guaranteed is that the rooms will accommodate the total number of guests included in the search... you can't guarantee bed types and the second 'bed' could be a rollaway brought into the room, pullout sofa bed, etc. Although VERY rare, i have heard of a hotel claiming that a King bed can accommodate triple occupancy, so that is a possibility for one room (although i'd consider this possibility very remote), but the other room for quad occupancy should at least have two separate 'beds' (ie- whether the second bed is a pullout sofa bed, rollaway, etc. is unknown).

The cost difference is likely due to the additional occupants being adults rather than children, as opposed to offering 'better' bed configuration.

Thanks. Used the HOTWIRE link via your post above and ended up submitting the reservation using 4 A 3 C. Not surprising got the Hyatt Regency Bonaventura for $126/nite/room. Thanks for the tips.

I'll update this post after this trip to let you know what ended up happening with the bed situation.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results. The hotel should already have your reservation so you should feel free to call them and make any requests for the room configuration known.

Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.

Enjoy your stay.

Update: completed this stay. I had initially been concerned that if I entered in 4 adults/3 children rather than 7 adults, that I would be less likely to get two rooms each with two double beds. However with entering 4 A/3 C I got two rooms and when I arrived I had a choice whether to get rooms with 1 king, or two doubles. So things worked out great.
