FL Ft Lauderdale Hilton (airport)

I stayed in this airport hotel two separate times - the beginning and end of a Florida visit - 2/24/11 and 3/1/11.

Pluses - Big attractive luxurious rooms with very comfortable beds. Absolutely no airplane noise. Very nice assortment of toiletries. Coffee/tea making supplies. A well-appointed room. Good individual read-in-bed lighting. Lovely landscaping around the hotel that made for a nice stroll. Good-natured 24-hour shuttle service to the airport, every 1/2 hour, and the run was only about 7 minutes. And from the airport there is a connecting city bus (#1) right to downtown Fort Lauderdale. Price. Free boarding pass printing.

Minus - other than the usual nice hotel restaurant and a couple vending machines, there were no food options or other shopping and recreation options. And none within walking distance. Parking is $14.

For the second stay, we checked in and left our luggage early in the afternoon. Returned the rental car at the airport, took the city bus downtown, enjoyed the Riverwalk and Water Taxi, had dinner downtown (Subway), then bussed back to the airport and shuttled back to the hotel that evening. Shuttled to the airport in the morning for an early departure.
