Harms Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 I first want to say thanks for the plethora of information here. I'm spending 4 days in Vegas Wed. - Sat. during a busy weekend (Spring Break, March Madness, UFC, and St. Patricks Day). In my first few attempts at bidding, when I got kicked to the retail screen for denied bids, I noticed a widely fluctuating price ranges for the hotels (sometimes a $150 increase one day then a $70 decrease the next) over the 4 days. I figured my best bet would be to split my hotels stays up from the weekdays and the weekend. I decided to go for a 4 star with an original bid around $55. After about 3 bids, I landed The Westin Casuarina at $70 for 3/16-3/18. My goal going in was to spend around $150 a night for the trip. The $70/night gave me alot of room to play with for the other 2 nights. I started my second bid at $180 for a 5 star on the north strip. I added Strip East and North Condo (knowing Trump would be included) at $185 and $190. At $190, I got a counter bid at $235. I countered that with $200 and Trump accepted. I'm sure if I had started out earlier in this whole process for a busy week, I would have done better, but we just decided to go the other day.I'm really pleased with how this whole thing worked out. We are driving out to Vegas, so switching hotels midstay isn't a big deal. This was my first time using Priceline and I'm pretty happy with it. I saved more money on this than I would have if I had just booked on my own. Now I have more gambling errr spending money! Thanks for having a wonderful website.
