Hi Everyone,

I have spent two days trying to get a hotel at Ft. Lauderdale Beach, 4*. My dates are flexible, preferrably March 27 thru April 2nd. I have bid up to $130 for Mar 27-Apr 2nd, Mar 20-Mar 26th, and Mar 23-Mar 29th and none of my bids have been accepted. I bid on this same area at the same time last year and was able to get the Westin beach for $75 a night.

Does anyone have any insight as to why these dates are not working and what dates I should choose instead? I want to stay six nights, I don't care what nights those are....my travel window is Mar 20th thru April 2nd...any dates in between would be fine.

Also, Miami Beach 4* is fine too...but I prefer Lauderdale....I bid on all of the same dates in Miami Beach and had no luck.

Help!!!!

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

My guess is Spring Break and/or possibly a convention or other event combined with higher traffic this year than last. While there may be some variation (especially if this is primarily being caused by an event), my guess is that prices for this time period will be above average. What is your desired budget per night?

Do watch out for the Hollywood zone in FLL. I started bidding it in frustration from not being able to score a beach hotel in the other zones. It has a triangle shape with the straight side along the ocean. The Best Western 2* hotel I got was in the western most point of the triangle, right off I-95. The BW had great breakfasts, and was handy for jumping on and off the freeway going elsewhere, but was a mile or two from the beach.

You might try doing your bidding in blocks of 3/3 days or 4/2 days, with the weekends separate from the week days.....assuming you would be willing to move. Also, if you will have a car, the more inland zones of FLL perhaps could work?

Thanks for the replies. My max budget is $130 a night before taxes and fees, but I would love to keep it under that. I definitely want ocean front in either Ft Lauderdale, Miami Beach or surrounding areas - I will have a vehicle but I like to have the ocean front effect. Good idea bidding week nights only I guess, I hate that this isn't easier this time around!!
