Jett456 Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 I am going to a concert in July and want to stay near the Verizon Center in the Capitol Hill area. I'd like to get something like a 3 or 3.5 star for about 70. I looked at the the prices for last year and that seems doable. I don't want to have to take my car and drive anywhere. Using the metro is fine. Any areas I should stay away from that are hard to get to. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Good evening. :)Please provide the date/s of travel. Rates will not likely be comparable exactly to last year; rates in most major cities are a bit higher than last year and there may be date-specific events. Which areas on the PRICELINE map would be acceptable, given your travel plans?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

yellowdog Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Jett456I took a look at your stay. And i'm sorry to say that i don't belive that $70 for 3* or 3.5* in the Capitol Hill/Convention Center area is going to happen. Current rates are very high. Is there any other zones you're willing to stay in?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.

I guess I will have to pay more then. It is much too early to try now but at least I will know beforehand.
AaronJB Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Rates are definitely on the high side in the core areas of the DC. I would definitely not wait until the last minute to book, and instead I would suggest in the meantime researching if some of the outlying areas will be acceptable, as rates in the outlying areas certainly seem more reasonable. If there is something going on on these dates, the higher rates may spread to outlying areas between now and July. It is a little on the early side for July, but not super early.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jett456 Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 OK, thanks. I didn't book yet. Will post again when I do and will use the link provided here :)

Jett456 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 What is the best area to stay in that has good metro/subway access. I am willing to stay in a less expensive area (Georgetown?) if I can easily take the subway.
galdang Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 If you're careful, you can book a hotel in Silver Springs, MD on HOTWIRE (link above). By careful I mean read the reviews to ensure that the hotel you select is close to the metro. Silver Springs is 8 stops away (about 20 minutes) on the Red line. While not as ideal as staying in the Convention Center area or another nearby zone, it is something to consider. I do not recommend using PRICELINE for Silver Springs, MD since the hotel you get could be quite far from the metro.
Jett456 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Report Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks. I was able to reserve the Best Western Georgetown using a discount code I found online. Total is $148 incl tax. This is my backup. The location seems very good. I will try PRICELINE again when I get closer to my date. It seems 7/28 is already booked up for some hotels that I tried. I won't have a car so I really want to be close to metro.
