wood2390 Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Hi Guys,Just need a little bit of help with Priceline as I haven
AaronJB Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Unfortunately with NYC and Spring, the further into the busy April/May period, the higher the prices get due to nicer weather. If hotels are not aggressively discounting (and HOTWIRE rates do look a bit on the high side), $130 may unfortunately prove not enough for a 3* for these dates, but it's worth a try. 3.5* in MTE also may be worth a try, although some of the possibilities at that star rating are a bit far E in the zone. While understandable that you want to keep on budget, if you are not accepted at the $130 level in Midtown, would you want to move up the budget slightly due to the advantage of a more central location? In terms of bidding from the UK, it is recommended to read this first.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wood2390 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 Hi AaronJBThanks for the quick response.I see what you mean about prices going higher towards the summer months. Just didn't expect so high. In hindsight I should have a done a little bit more research before booking my tour.Harlem does seem a little bit far from the action but as a solo traveller i'm not sure going past $130 will be worth it for a standardish hotel. I will certainly give your recommendations a go though. Fingers crossed something comes up. thanksWood2390

AaronJB Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I would definitely make sure how long in advance you can cancel the current booking, then with that in mind, bid up to your desired max ($130) at the 3* and 3.5* levels in Midtown once a week with the hopes that inventory opens up it gets closer to your stay. I definitely think staying in a more central location in NYC is a benefit. Please let us know if you have any questions at all, and best of luck for bidding. thereuare Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I have already booked a hotel in Harlem but feel that it may be too far away from all the attractions and might be a tad unsafe after dark. The Harlem hotel I Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
wood2390 Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 I was rounding up to $130 rather than increasing my bid. I really want to stay more central but going past $130 a night (before tax) will eat into my budget. I'm going on a 2 week tour after five days in NYC so need all the money I can muster.I'm staying at a place called 102 Brownstone. Looks like a B&B really. Has positive reviews and more importantly each suite has a private bathroom. Some places I've seen have shared bathrooms and as I
