HappyBeaver Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Strange. I've been using PriceLine and this site for quite a few times, and always got great prices and accurate predictions of the bidding strategy. Not this time.Yesterday, I checked out your site for info, and then went to PriceLine (forgot to use your links).Looking for Toronto Downtown, 4*, Friday March 4th to Monday March 7, 2011Bids:zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $65 -- Refusedadded Downtown Toronto North $70 -- Refusedadded zone 1 $75 -- Refusedadded zone 2 $80 -- Refusedadded zone 3 $82 -- Refusedadded zone 9 $87 -- Refusedadded zone 12 $91 -- Refusedadded zone 13 $98 -- Refusedadded zone 14 $107 -- Refusedadded zone 15 $117 -- Refusedadded zone 7 $127 -- Refusedadded zone 10 $137 -- Refusedno more zones! Failed biddingI noticed that PriceLine was offering a "direct buy" for Thompson Hotel for $157.24 hours later, today: Tried again, remembering to use your PRICELINE link.I tried aggressive bidding:zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $75-- Refusedadded Downtown Toronto North $90-- Refusedadded zone 1 $120-- Refusedadded zone 2 $135-- Refusedadded zone 3 $141-- RefusedAdded 3.5*, price of $80 --Changed my star level-- Refusedadded zone 9 $101-- RefusedAt this point, I gave up. I went to the PriceLine section where they give a list of hotels and chose the cheapest one available downtown. Thompson Toronto, US$157.No idea why it was all out of whack with what I normally pay, and the info on this site (which indicated it would be around $70-$85).Still, thanks for all the other times your site site helped me!
AaronJB Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE link; sorry to hear that bidding didn't work out this time although glad to hear that you were able to find an alternate deal. Prices and availability seem somewhat higher/limited on HOTWIRE, as well. You may have caught the Thompson before a change on PRICELINE, as I'm seeing it quoted higher on Expedia (Expedia had a similar rate showing for these dates, then when I clicked, it was revised to a higher rate.)Enjoy your stay.
