want2help Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Hi, I used Better Bidding last summer to Hotwire the Dallas Park Central Staybridge Suites for a three-week stay for about $50 / night. (Sweet!)I'm trying to do it again for this summer. Do you have any advice for how I might snag the hotel in my search? My stay dates are 6/11/2011 - 7/3/2011.Thanks so much!!

I'm not that familiar with the way Hotwire works and wondering if I change the number of adults or children in my search; or if I searched on Fridays, instead of Mondays; or if I adjusted my hotel stay dates in any way that I could "trick" Hotwire into showing me this particular hotel. Thanks for your help...

AaronJB Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 There is no way to get a particular hotel via either service. With HOTWIRE, you are offered one option at each star rating in each zone for each set of dates. Those options will change depending on days of travel and how many people. However, if the desired hotel is not showing for your dates, there is no way to know for sure whether it will appear at some point between now and your dates of travel. Additionally, if it's a busy period, prices could go up in the meantime.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I will continue to play with my reservation parameters and let you know how it turns out.
AaronJB Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 One other suggestion is to try changing the amount of people (2 adults and 2 children, even if there is not 2 children.) In some cities where there rooms with two beds often go for a steep premium (NYC, for example), this doesn't work as well, but in other areas, this may result in a different property at the same star level in the same area with similar (maybe slightly to moderately higher, depending) pricing. Hotels may also be showing for only part of your stay, but then it becomes structuring how best to split the stay between two hotels. Additionally, there have not been many reports to the board for it, but Travelocity's "Top Secret" section also often appears to offer good deals. Please do let us know if you have any other questions at all, and please keep us updated. Thanks. :)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, Travelocity or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
