Joachim Schmidt Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Hi!I have read the welcome message!I need your advice!I am looking for a room for me and my girlfriend from 4/30 - 5/6, willing to pay up to $150 per night all-in.We are hoping to get a 4* Hotel in a safe area on manhattan. This is our first visit to NY so we don't really know the areas but i have made this area-list:Madison Square Garden - Convention AreaMidtown EastMidtown WestTimes Square - Theatre DistrictIf the price in these areas are unrealistic maybe also:Chelsea AreaEmpire State Building AreaDowntown - SoHo - Financial DistrictQueensborough BridgeCould you help me make a strategy for bidding?Best regards Joachim - Denmark
AaronJB Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)$150 a night "all-in" would be approximately a $122-125 bid a night. Unfortunately, the Spring season is one of the busier times of the year in NYC, and based upon the rates that I'm seeing, a 4* at $125 is worth trying for in Midtown (Chelsea, MTE, MTW, TS, ESB, CPS) but would seem unlikely to be accepted based on the rates I'm seeing.A 3.5* may also prove difficult at the $125 level in the above zones, although I would caution that the 3.5* level in MTE does have a couple of hotels that are rather far East in Midtown East and the 3.5* level in CPS does have the possibility of the Hudson, which has rather tiny rooms (even for NYC.)I wouldn't recommend Downtown/Soho/Financial District until other choices have been exhausted, and I wouldn't recommend Queensboro Bridge.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I agree that $150 all-in is probably not realistic for a 4* hotel within Manhattan (and there are no 4* hotels offered in the Queensboro Bridge zone). What is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these dates? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
