Priceline Hotel: 4* Vienna (City Center) Vienna Marriott

After trying for several months, I decided to wait until it got closer to the arrival dates. Also, I heard it was useless trying to bid on Vienna more than 2 months before arrival. Previously, I had bid up to $130/night without luck.

This period is the end of the Vienna Philharmonic's season and most of Vienna is close to sold out. According to another bidding site, 4* City Center consists of Le Meridien, Sofitel, and Marriott. Both the Sofitel and Le Meridien had been sold out for months and Marriott is only listing "special event" pricing. After checking today, I noticed the Sofitel had opened up, albeit without a huge choice of rooms.

First, I went through the savingsbarn link to PRICELINE US and bid at $100/night. Most successful bids have been around $90/night, but for other periods. That was unsuccessful. No counter-offer but since I didn't want to rebid in increments of $22, I went to priceline HK. Bingo!

I'm pretty happy I got the Marriott since it's listing at EUR229 and not the Sofitel which could be had for EUR150.

Hopefully, one of these days a bid will work while using the savingsbarn link!
