sdskot Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I would like to stay at a 4* in the Waikiki South area. The lowest online fare I've seen for the Marriott there is $208. What would be a reasonable priceline fare to expect?
LoneStar Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 check the posts, and then check the packages feature of priceline, but 4 star hotels in Waikiki go for north of $100 and with some luck can often be obtained for less than $130.BTW, I personally checked out this property a few weeks ago and, unless you're on the trip of a lifetime and want "the best," I think the very nearby 3 star Prince Kuhio represents better value at half the price.
sdskot Posted April 23, 2005 Author Report Posted April 23, 2005 Thanks for the suggestion. I had bid up to 160 for the Ilinahi with no luck. Have you seen that property?
LoneStar Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Not personally familiar with the Marriott Ihilani. Obviously, it's a nice property -- very, very different from staying in Waikiki. We haven't seen any bidding success there of late, however. My guess is it's not available at a significant discount.
thereuare Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 What are the dates of your stay?To clairfy... you previously bid the Ihilani zone and were rejected so you now want to try for the Waikiki South zone? sdskot Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 I made my bids using free bids, etc. over a couple of 72-hour periods. I ended up with the Marriott at $148 per night. I had originally started at 120 and increased with $5 increments, adding 3* zones. I do believe that at this time that is the best rate I could have gotten. We're going for an anniversary so I wanted something nice. Thanks for your help. By the way, I bid the Ilihani all the way up to 172 per night with no success. My dates are 7-12 - 7-17-2005.
thereuare Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Congratulations on your winning bid.Can you please clarify your highest bid before this acceptance at $148 (somehow starting at $120 and increasing by $5 doesn't get your to $149 :) )Thanks, enjoy your stay and have a happy anniversary. sdskot Posted April 25, 2005 Author Report Posted April 25, 2005 $145 was my previous unaccepted bid. I bid two separate times, 72 hours apart. I also bid with one less day's stay to be able to bid one more time. Thanks.
