Mish Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Hi,I've been trying to get a 4 star hotel in Miami for the past 2 days for 3/3 - 3/7 in any of the following zones: North Miami Beach, Miami Beach, South Beach - Collins Ave. Oceanfront, or South Beach - Ocean Drive. I haven't had any luck and I've gone up to $205. I really didn't want to spend more than $200. I used the calendar tool to see if anyone was ever successful in getting a 4* in Miami on a weekend in March 2011, 2010, and 2009. There may have been one successful post, but that's about it... March is the month of spring break for most colleges, so I get it...But now to my main concern if I continue to bid... Before I went to bid today, I checked the hotels that come up during a regular search, I know that you have said in the FAQ, that hotels available there are not necessarily those that may be available when bidding... but I have assumed that the star levels of the hotels may be the same, and today a new hotel showed up as 4* that was not there yesterday - The Park Central Hotel. The Park Central hotel is listed as a 4* at $222 a night! I was very surprised when I saw this because the Park Central Hotel is listed as a 3* on Tripadvisor and on Expedia, and in my experience I had always found Priceline to be the most conservative in awarding stars....So now I am worried to include the Ocean Drive zone because $200 would not be a good deal at all for this hotel. Have you ever seen this hotel won under a 4* category? Any suggestions for me?Also any idea at what price I may be able to win?P.S. my last bid yesterday that included the Ocean Drive zone was for $175 and it was rejected...
AaronJB Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The Park Central has not yet been reported to the board, but new hotels can be reported at any time. What would be your desired max budget per night? Are you seeing anything of interest when searching on HOTWIRE? You can find the hotels that have been reported to the board on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE at this link.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Mish Posted February 25, 2011 Author Report Posted February 25, 2011 I was hoping to get something around $200 but yesterday I continued to bid up to $220, I might have to go down for a 3 star after $230... I've looked on hotwire but the prices are still very high...I just checked the hotels that come up on priceline today and the Park Central is not available anymore. Does this mean this hotel no longer has availability and less likely to win a bid?
AaronJB Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 There is still the chance that there is inventory on the bidding side. The hotel appears to have inventory on Expedia for these dates, and other sites may also have inventory even if PRICELINE's retail side does not.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
