There are two options:

Rest, Fitness Center, Spa, BCenter 4 1/2 stars $217

Midtown Central (midtown)

Boutique, Rest, BCenter 3 1/2 stars $220

Best guess is that the 4.5* is the Westin Essex House... if you choose to book this please use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.

Are you committed to only the MTC zone?

A little cheaper (hard to use the 'cheap' word in NYC) i would have a look at what is believed to be the AFFINIA DUMONT for $193/nite which gets excellent reviews.

Even less expensive, and owned by the same company as above, is what is believed to be the EASTGATE TOWER for $157/nite and the reviews are very good as well.

Let us know whatever you decide to do and if we can be of further help.

Thanks.

We want to be up around the Rockfeller Center area- Sheraton, Waldolf area.

The Hilton has a huge convention that gets out on Friday thus no room at the inn on Thursday 6/30.

We are used to that area.

Well i've given my best guess as to the above hotels, thru HOTWIRE (and please use this link to make your purchase).

However, i would encourage you to consider the other hotels presented above... they're less money and get higher reviews. According to TripAdvisor, the Affinia Dumont is the 2nd most popular hotel hotel in the city and the Eastgate is in the top 20%... this chain has "got it right" and provides some of the best value in NYC, with the largest room you will likely ever have in New York.

Although you're "used to" the MTC area, why not try a different part of the city to get a different flavor and/or experience? I think you'll get a bit more of a "local" feel with a hotel outside of the 50th and 5th vicinity.

...but it's your stay and you have to be happy with where you're located, but the above is my .02 :)

Let us know what you ultimately decide to do and/or if we can be of any additional help.

I love your .2 cents!!

I am traveling with a person that used to live and drive in NY and a senior citizen. Won't leave that area-- staying in the city. (comfort area) I even tried the Broadway area- nope. The Essex house is where a friend used to work at and it is a hike to the areas that we want to see. As they say, if you are late- the deals are gone! I know I was late.

I think I am too late for the NY hotwire and we are going to have to go with the hotel prices. Last minute trip. But, still working on the Seattle and FLL trip!!

thanks for all your assistance. You are the best!

Don't know what your alternative rates are, but perhaps the PARK CENTRAL HOTEL works well for you at $199/nite?

QUICKBOOK may be a good place to look as well.

I don't necessarily think it's too late to get a good deal for these dates and things my free up a bit as you get closer to check-in. Unless you can find a very good deal i would try to book something that is refundable (the Park Central above is up until 72 hours before check-in date, Quickbook reservations are either refundable (for "pay when you stay" rates) or have a $10 cancellation fee (for "prepay" rates)... even $10 isn't a bad deal if it gives you options down the road).

Also note that if you choose to book direct we're affiliates of and have direct links to many of the hotels in our SUPPORT PAGE.

Good Luck... let us know where ever you end up or if we can help further.
