Bid for 2 rooms at $50 on a 3.5* hotel. Did not bid for 4* because I was trying to avoid the University Place hotel.

My bid was accepted and "upgraded" to a 4* hotel, the Marriott downtown. I'm fine with the result but really glad they didn't "upgrade" me to the University Place. Didn't know they upgraded without asking.

Congratulations on your success!

When you bid the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept, and PRICELINE will always try to upgrade you to a higher rated hotel is possible. (this is why when re-bidding you need zones which not only have the star level you're bidding, but also have nothing higher than the star level you're bidding)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board... glad to see it all worked out well.
