Tamtam75 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I'm back to this site for the first time in awhile. I am so glad it's still around! I have used this site before when using PRICELINE & HOTWIRE (and always used the links) and it has helped me a lot! Well I'm planning another trip so I'm back for help. Even though I've gotten used to bidding now (done bidding twice and used Hotwire once), I still panic and think I'll make a mistake and I'm looking to do it right!So... I'm going with 2 friends to NYC Fri. May 6th - Mon. May 9th. I know that's 3 people and with priceline and such you can only guarantee double occupancy but I think we're willing to take our chances. We have an air mattress if needed. (I've only done NYC with me and hubby before so this will be new having 3 of us!)We'd like to stay in Times Square (I do know about the threads on staying in TS vs. other zones and the crowds but I think we're good with it. If not TS, only other section I might consider is MTW). Ideally, I'd love to get a 4* in TS and I'm wondering if it's possible on those dates for about $150 - $170 a night. I did look at the calendar of wins and there was MTW at the Algonquin for $133 (I think it was a longer stay) and TS for $195 a night for same weekend. (I have stayed at Westin TS before - loved it! - and Sheraton Manhattan - didn't love as much, bad night there)I am willing to consider using Hotwire as well but am hoping bidding goes well on priceline.Suggestions? Advice? I'm all ears! (thankful to have this site to help and I will use the links!)TamTam
thereuare Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 You can probably get a 4* hotel outside of Times Square within your budget, but if bidding only Times Square this one is 'iffy'. If you want to give it a try, you have FIVE re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Times Square...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155While i suspect the above will be rejected, i'd start there just to make sure there aren't any rate quotes in the system which haven't been updated. If rejected we'll revise to try again in 24 hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
