cslenotti Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Hello Betterbidding users! This is my frist post in this wonderful forum. Let me introduce myself. I'm 24, from Brazil, and planning to visit New York City in May 2011 (from 13th to the 22nd) with my girl friend. We already bought the airline tickets. Here is the deal. I've never booked a hotel using Price line or Hotwire an need assistance using it.While searching in tripadvisor.com, booking.com and Expedia.com, I was having a REALLY bad time finding a nice hotel (clean, good location (we are going to shop a lot = bags), NO bedbugs!)....I was expecting to spend "in max" with the hotel, PLUS ALL TAXES USD250,00/day (9days). Can I find a 4* or better hotel with this budget? Where, how? Thanks in advance for every reply!!! :) Regards,CsLenotti
thereuare Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Your post indicated $250/nite plus taxes but i'm not sure if that is what meant (or did you mean 'all-in' including taxes)?Either way, you should be able to get a nice 4* hotel within this budget. HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Empire State Building zone for $199/nite (i'm guessing is the St Giles The Court) and a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $229/nite (i'm guessing the Grand Hyatt or the InterContinental Barclay)... would either of these offers work for your plans? The alternative is to bid on PRICELINE at a lower price, but you won't know the specific amenities the hotel offers or be able to take an educated guess as to what it is you may receive. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. cslenotti Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Thank you!Yes, I mean $250/night including all the taxes.I think I'll take you advise, and start biding on Priceline (starting on $100/night is aceptable?). What about the Priceline hotels? Seaching on the forum, most people get the W hotel, or Sheraton, which I think are very nice hotels.Regards!CsLenotti
thereuare Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Seaching on the forum, most people get the W hotel, or Sheraton...I don't really agree with this statement as we see many hotels won other than just these two.$100 isn't going to be enough for a 4* hotel for these dates and i'd start higher then that. However, for us to suggest a strategy for you to follow, we'll first need to know which zone(s) are you acceptable... at the 4* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB typcially all work well for the average visitor. Let us know if these zones are acceptable and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, a $250 all-in rate is about a PRICELINE bid of ~$210, are you willing to bid up to this amount at this point in time? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
