bertrande Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 I think I got a really bad deal on Priceline. Obtained the Best Western Uptown Hotel for SGD130 a night or about USD79 (current exchange rates are USD1 = SGD 1.65 or so). Inclusive of all taxes and charges, the hotel room came up to SGD303. Maybe it's just the season but I just couldn't get a 4* no matter how high I went! :) Sigh.
thereuare Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! Thanks for the new hotel to add to our lists! Not much savings on this one... how high did you bid for 4* and 3* hotels? This stay is still over 3 months away, so perhaps a better plan would have been to book a cancellable back-up and continue to try lower bid amounts (or ask for help before bidding).Enjoy your stay. bertrande Posted April 23, 2005 Author Report Posted April 23, 2005 I think I tried all the way to USD150. I tried both Priceline.com and priceline.com.sg and didn't have any luck with either (I think they access the same database). I read somewhere on cruisecritic.com that the period which I was booking for is particularly hard to get this year. That poster had trouble all the way to USD130 and gave up.I suppose that this being my first trip and all, I was very anxious to secure accommodation given that I had such a hard time securing a flight because apparently it's super-peak season during the time I'm going to be in Vancouver! :)
