Details on the Affinia stay:

I stayed from 9-Jan-11 through 14-Jan-11. I used priceline (before I found this website) and paid $90/night. The hotel was rated at a 3.5*, but did not meet my expectations. The room had old furniture and stains on the carpet. I complained to priceline and they refused to do anything. My complaint was that my room was not a 3.5* compared with other 3.5* properties I've stayed at in NY (ie, Marriott downtown on west side hwy). Priceline's response was that the hotel ratings are arbitrary, and are rated in the sole discretion of priceline.com. So, basically, they can give the motel 6 a 4* rating and you just have to live with it. All I really wanted was a desk in my room, and they refused to help me with an upgrade or honor any partial credit/refund.

After speaking with 3 people at the front desk, the staff agreed to upgrade me to a room at no charge. It only took 2 nights, but just ridiculous effort to get a desk in your room.
