ufjoe21 Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 fine............what kind of savings vs. rack rate? :)
runNgun Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 how about what kind of savings -vs- best available rate since no one pays rack rate (at least I hope not) or for that matter sticker price on a car.ps answer is $199 for the type of room hotwire gets at the hotel. So 40% off before tax ain't bad.
ufjoe21 Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 yes....but let's call the "lowest" available rate the NEW rack rate because ANYBODY can pay it!ps answer?
runNgun Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 The word rack is now a "bad" word in the hotel business. Holiday Inn no longer uses the term and Hampton Inn's use just the "best available" term. Rack has always been an inflated number so when you get your "aaa, aarp, corporate" discount you feel there was some value in it. ps answer was Gaylord's best price for the 6/4 arrival on the roomtype they normally give to Hotwire/Priceline guests.
