Hellow,

Will be going for a conference at Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle on March 28 - 30 and looking for any tips to get hotel (3* - 3.5*) within walking proximity (preferably).

Appreciate it!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Start with looking at the maps (shaded areas) for PRICELINE and HOTWIRE if you find a zone(s) that you're ok with.

But have in mind that you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Please also read this link: I've never used Priceline or Hotwire

Budget in the range of $65 - $85. Would be great to get a hotel nearby the conference location so that I can avoid extra parking charges.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

The Conference Center appears to be in the northern edge of the Pike Place zone or the southern edge of the Space Needle zone. While the Pike Plaza zone is larger in geography, so you could receive a hotel further away form the venue than in the Space Needle zone, i actually think the Pike Plaza zone would be better as it's more narrow and should you end up in the southern part of the Pike Place zone, you should be able to get mass transit to get wtihin close proximity of the conference... Seattle has a 'free ride zone' where bus service (both above ground and in 'the tunnel') is free within the a given area... i would think this should work fine for your needs (but you'll need to do a little research to confirm for yourself) The Space Needle zone may take you a little further east and not that convenient to mass transit (i dont' know the routes there that well, but know that there are a LOT of north/south routes within the length of 'downtown proper' (as i'll call it) which are part of the free ride zone)

The one 'problem' you may have though is that the zone does go somewhat far south, and at the 3.5* level there are some hotels (such as the Silver Cloud Stadium) which is near Quest Field and not part of the free ride zone.

I think you have a chance at a 4* hotel (where all the 'known' Pike Place hotels are within the downtown proper area and part of the free ride zone) at $85 or less and that would be the route i take first.

Your other option is to try to ID a hotel on HOTWIRE and determine if it is close enough to your conference.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Here's update on what I get for March 27th - 30st:

1st try: $63 - 4* hotel & pike place market, offer rejected

2nd try: $69 - 4* hotel & pike place market, offer accepted!

Get The Westin Seattle and according to Google Map, it's about 1 mile and 20 minutes walking time.

Any input regarding this hotel and does anyone know how much is parking usually at Westin?

Used your link too :)

Congratulations on your success!

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :)

We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the Westin.

Enjoy your stay.

PS. I have never stayed at this hotel so i can't help you with your question.

I've stayed at the Westin. I like it... the beds are comfortable and the rooms are nice. I wouldn't recommend eating breakfast in the hotel, though. Parking at all the downtown hotels runs around $20, I think. Street parking is free on Sunday.

g.c.k.
