When will be the best time to bid for room in 4/6-4/7?

I tried 3 days, offered USD 90 for 2* above in Arlington and DC Suburbs NW area, still not accepted.

According to last year's info, price for a 3.5* hotel were only USD75, so cannot understand why

Can somebody suggest what can I do?

Many thanks!

I don't know if this would work for your travel plans, but the airport hotels tend to be a lot less expensive. Dulles (IAD) is in Northern Virginia. You can just use IAD to find reportings here and to start your bidding. Then there is BWI and also DCA. Transportation will be the issue, when considering if any of these will work.

Also, did your bidding include Crystal City? The metro will get you around from there quite nicely.

Your dates are part of many US school spring breaks, plus it might be cherry blossom time. Both tend to run rates up in an already expensive city.

Thanks for reply! Well. the airport will not be an option coz I'll take the bus to DC downtown and visit the musuems around. So I'd prefer to book a hotel around the subways.

Crystle city is even more expensive than Arlington... ~~>,<~~

I just wanted to know if it's possible to get a better deal later, like 3wks ahead, compared to now. Or the price will become higher with the date approaching.

DC is an area with more 'event' pricing then 'seasonal' pricing... there is usually some event happening in town, which depending upon size, has the potential to effect hotel rates. Given events (rallies, government meetings, conventions, etc) usually don't take place on the same exact date from year-to-year, it's hard to use pricing from one year to gauge pricing for the following year.

HOTWIRE has a 2* hotel in the Arlington zone for $80... the reviews don't look very good, but it's below prices you've already bid and it's only for one nite, perhaps it's something you may want to consider. (it may be the Days Inn Arlington (2201 Arlington Boulevard... NOT the Pentagon location) but i'm far from certain)
