Tricky Trev Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Hi, This forum looks fantastic. My wife and I will be travelling to NYC with our 6 month old and would like to stay in a 4* (or better) hotel on 13 - 19 April. My wife's parents will be travelling with us and would like to stay in the same hotel but in a different room.We would like to stay in MTE or MTW and have a budget of around $200/night.Can you suggest a strategy? Thanks
thereuare Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm assuming your budget is $200 per room (and not total for both rooms). At the 4* level in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. The above may fall a little short, but with time on your side i figured it would be best to start a little lower then a reasonable expectation for a winning bid just to exhaust those price points... sometimes you get lucky (some of the later bids in the strategy have a chance). If the above is rejected just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours... based upon current prices i do think you have a very good chance of succeeding at your $200 limit. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Tricky Trev Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks for your advice.Yes, budget is $200 per room.Do I need to do anything special given that we will be travelling with a baby? and that we require 2 rooms at the same hotel?Do the hotels provide a bassinet or anything?
thereuare Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 When you bid you can select the number of rooms from the dropdown menu (see the search box on the top right corner of this board) and if you choose two rooms and are successful, both rooms will be at the same hotel. Most, but not all, hotels use Pak N Plays but this is not something guaranteed by PRICELINE. Technically reservations are for double occupancy, although i personally wouldn't have any issue using for 2adults and a 6 month old. After the hotel is received you can call the hotel and see what sort of infant bedding they have on hand so that you're prepared with a back-up plan should the hotel state that they don't have anything. Please remember to use the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.
