jenalyssa Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I used the link to HOTWIRE, and will use when I book. I was wondering if you could help identify the following:Check in Mar 18, check out Mar 20Strip - North Area hotel4* $157 casino, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, golf, spa - is this Treasure Island?Strip - South Area hotel3.5* $161 casino, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, high speed internet, golf, tennisAlso, what do you think is the best bet for these two nights - HOTWIRE or PRICELINE??
Romelle Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'll leave the identifying to somebody else. Regarding the better choice, it partially depends on you. If you want the control of a pretty good guess as to the outcome, and/or are looking for a particular amenity, HOTWIRE can be the better choice. If your budget is tighter, and you can just take the chance, PRICELINE can be a little less expensive. IMHO.If you are OK with Priceline, the numbers you see from Hotwire can serve as a max for your PL bidding. In either case, it is a good idea to check the web sites of the various hotels for their rates. Once in a while they have specials that actually are better than one can do by bidding. The Las Vegas Checker above will get you to some of them. There are a lot of links to the hotels under the Support/Travel Links tab above. Romelle
jenalyssa Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 This weekend seems to be pretty pricey and I've checked all the websites of the hotels - prices are all $220+ So I'll definitely go with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. The only thing I don't like with PRICELINE is if I want to bid 4* on the South strip, I might get stuck with the Westin, which I don't want.
yellowdog Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 jenalyssaAlso, what do you think is the best bet for these two nights - HOTWIRE or PRICELINE??If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Let us know if you want to go with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE before we start to ID hotels.Thanx for using boards HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links :) Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 The only thing I don't like with PRICELINE is if I want to bid 4* on the South strip, I might get stuck with the Westin, which I don't want. Then you shouldn't use PRICELINE... or at least keep your 4* bids confined to only the Strip North zone. For the 3.5* hotel, If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all " link on top of the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above?Let us know and we'll have a closer look at both. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
