fordpickup Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'll be in Vegas 4/8-4/11 and I was hoping to get a 4* on the Strip for under $60. Do you think this is a pipe dream? If it's not doable, I'd love to come in quite low at a 3*. Any recommendations for bidding? Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Your expectation is probably not realistic for these weekend dates. To have a closer look, first let us know if something like the Westin is acceptable... in PRICELINE's Strip zone but locates slightly off the strip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fordpickup Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'd be happy with the Westin, I don't need flash and glitz (I would like flash and glitz adjacent though). I contemplated 3*, but I don't want to end up at IP (not sure if the rest of the 3* are like it but it is a bit dumpy). Looking for reasonably nice and something we don't have to take a taxi to/from, as that eats up savings from off-strip properties--unless the off strip places could be had for a low rate/shuttle/something. I'm open. Thanks, and I will use the link when it's time to book.
thereuare Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 How about the Tropicana for $82/nite... or is your budget set at a maximum of $60/nite?Even the mid-tier properties like Harrahs, Ballys and Flamingo are going for $150/nite these dates... and the IP starts at $100/nite... it's going to be difficult to find something 'nice' and on the strip at $60/nite.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fordpickup Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd like to keep it as low as possible, of course. I'd be afraid to get a hotel I'd prefer not to stay in if I bid on 3* (Hooters/IP). I'd be more inclined to go off strip. I didn't want to spend $80-$90 but if that's what it takes, that's what takes.I had no idea Vegas we so darn expensive these days. What happened to the recession?
thereuare Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 What i think is the Holiday Inn Express (5760 Polaris) is available for $45/nite and they offer a shuttle to the strip (7am-10pm) and it gets good reviews, if that works for your plans. Certainly not as convenient as something like the Tropicana, but at nearly half the price, it comes down to budget vs. convenience. (if you're arriving by plane keep in mind that it will also likely cost you a little more to get to off-strip hotels vs. on-strip hotels)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed.
