jenalyssa Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I haven't used Priceline much, and have browsed a few of the topics here. I'm looking for the best tactic to get a good rate on the Strip. I am not oo picky, however would prefer not staying at the Westin. Looking for something around $150 maximum, hopefully cheaper. I used your link the other day and tried bidding $100, and was not accepted. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
AaronJB Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What zones would you be interested in staying within, and what bids have you made exactly so far?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jenalyssa Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'd like to be right on the strip so north/center/south but DO not want the westin. I put in a bid of $100 and then $110 for 4* with north and south strip selected, then put second bid for $110 with same locations.
Romelle Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I'd like to be right on the strip so north/center/south but DO not want the westin. I put in a bid of $100 and then $110 for 4* with north and south strip selected, then put second bid for $110 with same locations.Since the 4* Westin is in the Strip South and you don't want it, probably a good idea to not include Strip South in your bidding.Romelle
thereuare Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Give your rejections already up to $110 at the 4* level, and your desire to avoid the Westin, do you want to next try for a 5* hotel up to your limit (if successful is it worth the extra $20-$30 per nite it would cost more than a 4*?)If so you'd try the following:At the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North and 5* Strip South...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected, OR budget is the primary objective and you're not willing to pay more for a 5* vs. a 4*, post back and we'll revise accordingly and discuss your options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us now how it goes. jenalyssa Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 ok so I did all of those levels for a 5* and all were rejected. I am ok with any 4* except The Westin, but that would limit my bids to north which is only TI?? or what's the best strategy?
AaronJB Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 If you don't want the Westin and it is a 4* in the South Strip zone, then it is best avoided. The sole 4* that has been reported to the board in the North Strip is TI (which is on sale for $179 via Expedia, and coupon code FROST11 should take $10 off.)Looking at rates, my guess is a 5* in the North Strip zone will probably take in the ballpark of $160-175 per night, so I don't believe you're probably far off. These do appear to be busy dates in the area when looking on Expedia.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Did you want to increase your budget for a 5* or try for a 4*?Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. jenalyssa Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I used your PRICELINE link, bid $160, 165, then 175 and got Vdara for $175 for March 18/19. Peetty much works out to the same price that TI is on Expedia, so pleased about that. Hope my bf doesn't mind that there's not a casino in the hotel!
AaronJB Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this newer 5* property for what looks like a pretty busy period in Vegas.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
victoorious Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 hmmmm , i'm thinking about doing this then..anyone know how far the walk is from Vdara to Aria is? (i need that casino!!)
jenalyssa Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'm pretty sure the hotels are side by side, so can't be too long of a walk. Also, heads up that Vdara ONLY has king size beds with queen pull out couches!
