Hi

I'm searching a four star hotel for our trip to NYC in May and would be very pleased if I managed to get hotel Kitano via PRICELINE.

I believe I found Kitano via HOTWIRE (checked the hotwire hotel list), but sadly it was gone when I started to book it. Now I have read threads here how people have got Kitano with 170$/night in May. So if I do a search requesting 4* hotel in ESB and am willing to pay 170$/night, how much I can trust that I get Kitano?

Thanks for help!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Kitano has been pretty frequent in the ESB zone lately. And is reported for your dates in May. But it's no good sign that the hotel don't show on HOTWIRE any longer. If always feels better if one can see tha same hotel on HOTWIRE

It's hard to answer your question since we don't have any good answer for it. But if Kitano is the only hotel you're willing to stay at would i keep checking HOTWIRE if it should re-appear there. But we can't say how likely that is either.

Bottomline is that you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

While more the exception then the rule, i have seen instances where two users place the same bids simultaneously on their own computers and receive two different hotels... so you shouldn't assume that you'll receive the same hotel as others, especially when their dates are different then your own and/or time has elapsed since their winning bid.

You'll probably be more satisfied with your results if you have the mindset of receiving a great deal on a 4* hotel rather than hoping for a specific property.

Hi again and thanks for your quick responses!

I think I would try to go for a 4* hotel in ESB, Chelsea, MTE, MTW or TS. I'm willing to pay max 180 dollars/night. What kind of strategy should I use?

Thanks a lot for your bidding strategy but I decided to go with knowing the hotel I'm going to get. So I booked the Shoreham hotel from an another site and got a pretty good deal. Sorry about taking your time!
