marmalade1000 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Hi,I really appreciate this resource and always start my PRICELINE and HOTWIRE searches through the links here. I am currently looking for a hotel in Boston for the weekend of March 18th and would love to get some advice. I'm taking my family for the weekend, and they've never been to Boston. Ideally, I'd love to stay at a 4* in the Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall area since I know that will be fun for everyone, though I'm open to other areas that aren't too far as well. (It's been a while since I've been to Boston, so I'm not sure where the best place to stay would be.) I know Boston's probably going to get pretty booked up that weekend, since it's just after St. Patrick's Day, but any ideas what I might try bidding? Thanks! Any help would be much appreciated.
thereuare Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I really appreciate this resource and always start my PRICELINE and HOTWIRE searches through the links here. Thanks! It would also be appreciated if you began to share your wins with the board too, so that the information can help others, just as you have been helped by those who posted before you. :)I'm taking my family for the weekend...How many adults/children will you be... were you intending to bid on more than one room? PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Based upon the above let us know which service you're looking to use and we'll reply accordingly. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding, searches and purchases. marmalade1000 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 Hi,We'll probably just get one room, as we're two adults and one child, who's 3 years old, so we can usually get by pretty easily with one room. Usually we've had no problem getting a little rollaway or crib that our son can sleep in. So I think I'd feel safe doing Priceline. Thanks! Any advice would be most welcome. Best,Lennox
thereuare Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall) and (Copley Square-Theatre District) are the most frequently bid zones and are generally well located for the average visitor.Let us know if both of these zones are acceptable or if you prefer to only bid the Quincy Market, as well as your maximum bid for this stay... we'll take it from there. Please click this PRICELINE link before replying. marmalade1000 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yes, both the Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall and Copley Square-Theatre District areas would be ideal. Thanks!Oh, and I'm a bit flexible on maximum bid, though I'd probably want to stay under $175 per night if possible and of course, want to get the best bargain I can.
thereuare Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Quincy...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* Copley...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* Quincy and Copley...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. The earlier bids don't have much of a chance, but with time on your side better to exhaust those possibilities to see if you can pick up any low hanging fruit... the latter bids in this strategy begin to have a more realistic chance, but if you're rejected just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
