starbuxfan Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Hi there, any suggestions on getting a good price at a 4*... I noticed 3*'s for under $100.. but not sure if that is commparable to a Westin on Priceline or lower?Looks like the 4*'s like Venetian are blocked out for those dates on Expedia.com etc.any help/tips would be appreciated.this is my 1st time on the site. recommended by a co-worker.much thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! What type of hotel and price range are you looking for? Demand is pretty high for these dates but there are pockets of 'reasonableness':Sahara for $66/nite.Boardwalk for $100-$110/nite depending upon room selectionTropicana for $150/nite thru QUICKBOOK (a Tower Room, stay away from Garden Rooms here)EXCALIBUR for $188/nite.The above is a good start of decent deals based upon current rates, if you give us a bit more info about what you're looking for and what's important to you we'll try to help further. starbuxfan Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 thanks for the fast response.do you think its better for me to bid online at PL or try hotwire? the * ratings seem different..when I checked Expedia.com the 4* hotels weren't even shown/available.which site, PL or hotwire is a better to bid, w/ good chances getting a nice hotel on the strip.much thanks again.
thereuare Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 The opauqe services are not always the best in Vegas (as discussed in LAS VEGAS PRICELINE EXCEPTION) so it's not necessarily a question of "should i use Priceline or HOTWIRE"... it's more about us helping to find you the best deal based upon your budget and preferences. As asked above, "What type of hotel and price range are you looking for?"With that information we'll try to help you find the best options for your stay. starbuxfan Posted April 21, 2005 Author Report Posted April 21, 2005 I would like to be in a clean 3* or 4* on the strip for $150 per nite. I have 4 ppl, but would like to get 2 double beds. How would you rate the Westin Casuarina? noticed that was 3* for some reason. or how much would I need to pay for a 4* such as MGM, etc?thanks again for your help. your site is really informational and I have so much more to read/research..it is getting overwhelming!
starbuxfan Posted April 21, 2005 Author Report Posted April 21, 2005 p.s.if I go to priceline and want to bid on a 4*, which 2 areas of the map should I check besides the strip?is a 4* on PL really the bellagion, etc.. I know the ratings are diff on PL v. HW.thanks
thenewbie Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Priceline reservations are for 2 people per room. If you need 2 double beds, PL won't be the best route for you as many hotels only have king beds for PL reservations. You only need to check off one area on priceline. They 'recommend' selecting 2 areas so there is a greater chance for them to make money (priceline fees) from your request. The Bellagio & Venetian are both 5* properties. Check the Priceline/Hotwire hotel lists here for examples of the various ratings.Just for comparison, the highest rating on Hotwire for the strip is a 3* for $80/night for your dates 5/4-5/7.
thereuare Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 I think your best option currently is from my first reply to this thread unless you are willing to SPLIT YOUR BID... but you also have the 'two bed' problem to consider as well.
