fvandewouwer Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hi,Here I am again ( had a priceline win regarding one night which was accepted ) am trying for 4 nights without having luck and am getting nervous. We are looking for a good clean quiet hotel max offer is 140 $ ( without taxes ) rebit zones are clear for me but maybe I am doing something wrongso I could use some helphave done so farTS 120 / MTW 125 / MTE 130 / CPS 135 / HK 140 and added some free zones went up to 160 .... no lucknow maybe this is not ok because we are willing to stay in TS MTW MTE CPS HK so perhaps I should take only one of them start with 120 and add free zones to go up to 140 close and start again with MTW add zones .... close and again and again I know that prices for this period is high but I also checked the winning bids and there are some for 130 so ?all you input is welcome should I consider to stay at Chelsea or Downtown Soho ? it is our first time to NY and we want to see the whole city in our short time so location is important but again we do wish to have a quiet place ( a good night rest is very important for us )thank you all again for your time and help Frie I AM SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH MISTAKES BUT IT IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
thereuare Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 At the 4* level in NYC the zones we typically recommend for the average user are MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB.Chelsea may be acceptable although there are some areas which may be slightly out of the way (although this may give you a bit more of the quiet that you're seeking) and Downtown is usually only a good choice if the you get such a good price vs. midtown to make the 'lesser' location worthwhile. Is there a reason your not including ESB in your bidding above? (as this may be one of the least expensive areas for these dates)Let us know and we'll outline a better bidding (pun intended :) ) strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fvandewouwer Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hi and thank you for your answer, ESB is ok to, tried today ( probably wrong ) and added ESB as a free zone went to 160 not acceptednow my hb did something very stupid and took over when I went to make dinner he added 3* and offer was accepted on the Hudson hotel for 165 without taxesI was not happy ( not at all ) so I called priceline explained in my very best english and they cancelled but kept one night ( 200 usd ) and 25 $ cancelation fee ( the one night they are not going to refund us will be refunded as soon as I book or bid and offer is accepted ....they said )now I am affraid they have a system that is really clever and will never accept an offer so we have to book instead of bidding ........ hope this is not the caseyes if anyone can help me on a good strategy I am willing to stay anywhere ( also Chelsea ) as long as we can see on a convinient way this beautiful city and have a good night rest ( clean quiet if it is small not a problem )thank you all for your input and timehave a good day from very wet BelgiumFrie I AM SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH MISTAKES BUT IT IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
