Alistair Stewart Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 This thread has been particularly helpful to my situation also, thanks. I'm going to NYC from 04/09/11 to 04/16/11, so the same number of nights, but just the week before - and like you, looking for 4* in TS, MTW, and MTE. I was a bit worried that a 7 night stay may reduce my chances of getting a good deal. I personally am open to changing hotels mid-week if need be, but I'm booking two rooms, and one of which is for my parents who are 60yrs old and have never been to NY, so didn't want to disrupt their stay if possible.I'm going to be bidding later this evening, so will let you know how I get on (I'll follow the advise above, thank you). My limit is $150 (which looking at published rates on hotel websites, I'm hoping is do-able), and if I've no luck I'll just need to reduce star rating and increase zones. It's my first time using Priceline, so I'm hoping I get off to a good start :)
Ricardo Wirght Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks. One thing that is not clear for me is where I can find the Hotels available to do the rebid. I ready this post: Priceline Re-Bidding Explainedbut I don't know what area the 4* is not available to do the rebid process. >> DON"T use our database of previous hotels to determine what zones contain what star ratings, as our list is NOT complete and new hotels are added all the time and star levels can change at any time. Anyone can help me?
Alistair Stewart Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 If you go to Priceline's website, and in to the bid section for New York City, it will list the 15 tickable areas under "Step 1: Choose where you want to stay" (although no 12, 'Queensborough Bridge', should be greyed out). If you tick each area, one at a time, and each time look at "Step 2: Choose the star level for your hotel" below, it will show which star ratings are available in that area. For example, ticking Brooklyn only, will show '4-Star Deluxe' greyed out, meaning there are no 4-Star hotels available in Brooklyn. And therefore Brooklyn can be used as re-bid area for 4-Star bids.So if you tick each area in turn, and write down the ones that don't offer 4-Star hotels, it will give you your re-bid areas. As of today, there should be five for 4-Star bidding.Hope that makes sense :)
Ricardo Wirght Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 Now is clear. I think you explanation should be part of the post about the re-bid. :) Thanks for your help!
