This is probably not the right place for this question, but I"m not sure where the right place to post would be. WIll be bidding on a hotel in Scottsdale for Feb 17-21, I'm very concerned about getting a smoking room...I honestly would probably book another hotel if I had to stay in a smoking room, what are the chances you can get switched to a non-smoking room?

A large percentage of PRICELINE hotels are smoke free. It happens that we get reports about members that have been assigned to smoking rooms but it's rare and it's usally lower rated hotels.

But to make sure would i suggest that you use HOTWIRE. You can look for the smoke free icon among the amenities. That will guarante you a smoke free room.

Let us know how we can help you further.

Yellowdog.

PS. Can you please follow-up your previous Orlando Hotwire thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay (even if you chose to book direct, cancelled your stay, etc)

If you only want a Non-Smoking Room i would sooner recommend HOTWIRE and choose a hotel which shows the Smoke Free icon.

I have never gotten a "smoking" room in over 50 Priceline stays.
Others, with fewer PRICELINE wins under their belt, have gotten Smoking rooms.

While most hotels will work with you to try to accommodate your requests, some are not as willing as others, and some, based upon occupancy issues, simply can't if they don't have the room type/amenities you're seeking.

The issue here is that the OP doesn't want to take any risk of receiving a smoking room, and that just can't be guaranteed with a PRICELINE reservation... even if the room is 50%+ off of retail, it's not a deal if it doesn't suit the OPs needs (to the extent that s/he won't stay in a smoking room and would therefore have to 'eat' the room cost). While PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, i think this is a situation where it's worth any additional expense as it gives the OP a room they know they'll be able to use (assuming they purchase one with a Smoke Free icon)

  • 2 weeks later...

Ended up using Hotwire, booked a 5 Star Resort for $143/night from Feb 17-Feb 21 Amenities did not include a non smoking room, but I booked anyways and got the Fairmont Princess Scottsdale and was thrilled. Called the hotel immediately after booking and was booked in a smoking room :) They suggested to have hotwire call the hotel and request a non smoking room. Did just that and although they could not Guarantee a non smoking room, we did get one! Enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Fairmont for an amazing price!

Thanks

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see it all worked out in the end, but this thread is a good 'recap' of how you can receive a smoking room.

Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
