avj3
I'm new here.I am trying to book a hotel in San Juan for the night of 4/2/11. I am hoping for the Sheraton Old San Juan but am willing to take my chances that I might get something else. I have bid $70 for a 3-1/2 * which wasn't accepted. When I try to rebid, I increase the price by a dollar but do not change anything else. It comes up with an error saying I must change at least one thing before I can rebid. Am I doing something wrong? Isn't changing the bid price changing one thing? I really need to stay in this area since we are leaving on a cruise the next morning. And I don't really want to lower my star rating for fears that I might get something not so good. It doesn't look like there are any 3 1/2 * + hotels anywhere else on the island, could I broaden my area without fear of ending up across the island from the cruise terminal? Thanks for the help. Romelle
I'm just a member, so please respond to AaronJB's request for information first. However, I wanted to chime in with a little help also. You have to change the date(s) or lower the star level for it to count as a change. Otherwise you have to wait 24 hours to bid again. A full 24 hours from when you quit. PRICELINE doesn't count changing the $ amount as a "change".On the other hand, with San Juan you do have available a number of zones that work as "free rebids" at the 3 1/2* level. It is explained here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedAfter you've reviewed the discussion, if you'd like to double check your understanding please post back. To answer your question, yes you can "broaden" your bidding area "without fear of ending up across the island" but it is really important that you completely understand the process in order to do it safely. PRICELINE almost never gives refunds. You've got lots of time yet. That $70 might be low. Did you check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins above for your dates to see if there are any San Juan reportings? Also, the hotels might not have given rooms to PRICELINE inventory this early.Romelle Link to comment
avj3
Thank you for the advice. I hadn't made it to the Rebid page or the calender yet. Seems there are not too many wins yet for the hotel I want I the day I want it. I will try again tonight. Thanks again,Adam Link to comment
Romelle
Adam,There actually is a 3.5* San Juan win on your date. And if you click on it, it will take you to the full discussion with that bidder. I think you will find it interesting.Romelle Link to comment
