Priceline Hotel: Need Help: Hotel and Car for Paris

Need some help from seasoned travellers.

I am looking for the best price on the following in Paris:

Car Rental: Feb 12 to 19th (Automatic - intermediate)

Hotel (as close as possible to the main attractions in Paris): only for Feb 12.

Can someone please help me...this is the first time I am traveling (first time for everything). I want to use Priceline or Hotwire but dont know the best strategy for this. Can someone plz point me in the right direction to go about doing this.

If you need different dates for your hotel and car rental then you'll need to make each purchase separately.

For the hotel stay... if you enter "Paris" in the HOTWIRE search box at the top left of this page and enter your dates, which zone(s) are you willing to stay in? What about the zones if you do the same with the PRICELINE box on the top right of this page?

What is your expected budget per nite and desired star rating?

My desired star rating is 4 and my budget is 125...Is that reasonable/doable?

Can you please point me to some background reading I can do for best results on PRICELINE. I have looked around the forum but havent been able to locate any article on strategies and tips, tricks to bid on PRICELINE.

The most frequently bid zone(s) in Paris are:

Champs Elysees - Opera Quarter West

St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse

Eiffel Tower - Porte De Versailles - Montparnasse

The first two bid a little more frequently then the third. You should look at each of these zones and determine if it will work for your plans this trip? (although if you're just staying for one nite i'm not sure how much of Paris you'll be able to see and where you're staying for the balance of your trip)

Once you decide which zone(s) you're willing to accept we'll be able to determine how feasible a 4* hotel at $125 or less is as well as suggest a bidding strategy for you to follow.
