ShemaYisrael Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Need help bidding around the Fll Airport AreaBudget 50$-70$ from 2-11 TO 2-13I've read a couple of bids than won. That averaged around 55$WHAT SHOULD I DO TO WIN A BID OF THE HILTON AROUND FLL AIRPORT Thanks :)
AaronJB Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to guarantee a particular property when using PRICELINE; if you bid for a 3.5* in this zone, you could possibly get any 3.5* hotel in this zone. Are you only interested in the Hilton?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ShemaYisrael Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 No but i would settle for any 3* Hotel in that areajust want to know any tips that would heighten might chance of getting what i want
thereuare Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Please start by reading your messages.just want to know any tips that would heighten might chance of getting what i wantWhat exactly is it that you want... the Hilton? If so, as per above, there is no way to increase your chances of landing this particular property vs. another one at this star level (or higher) in the zone. If you are looking to try to target this particular property then HOTWIRE may be a better option.Have you checked HOTWIRE to see if the hotel(s) offered in this area for your dates can be reasonably guessed... or is price ultimately the most important factor for this stay and you'd like to try PRICELINE for the best price on a 3.5* or better rated hotel in the Airport zone?Let us know which direction you'd like to go and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. One thing ive noticed is that PRICELINE offered a zone to bid where there was quite a few 3* Hotels close to my area. In which they stated that "Median retail price for a 3 star hotel in the area selected is $120".So I Google mapped the area/zone and these Hotels came upHilton Garden InnResidence Inn by MarriottWingate by WyndhamGrand PalmsHampton InnHoliday Inn Express Hotel & Suites I'm planning on bidding 55$, but how does the rejection process go also? In addition in this situation where from what i see on Google maps, IT SEEMS THAT I CANT LOOSE, or is Goole just hiding the run down hotels from me? :) Sorry about asking all these questions(i'll be sure to donate) :)
yellowdog Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 ShemaYisraelThe hotel you see on Google got nothing to do with PRICELINE. It's better you look at this link for reported hotel in the FL airport zone. We can't guarante that will get a hotel from the list but the chance is big."Median retail price for a 3 star hotel in the area selected is $120".This is nothing you should build your bid on. Let us know your max budget for the FLL zone and we'll help you with a strategy.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
Romelle Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 If you enter "lauderdale hilton" in the Quick Search box up at the top on this page, you will get a list of all the reported wins of that hotel. I just looked at the first page, but wins ran between $51 and $60. Two of them on different dates were mine. I won at $54 with a prior unsuccessful bid of $52, so the best I could have possibly won on those particular days was $53. I'm just a member, but I think you are making this too hard. While you have to be ready to accept ANY 3.5* in the mapped zone when you bid that zone, if you bid 3.5*, and bid high enough to get accepted, you will get a 3.5* hotel. At the moment, the Hilton has been coming up a lot. No guarantees, but that is probably what you will get. There are 4 free-rebid zones at the 3.5* level. If you start with the airport, and $51 and then add the free rebid zones one at a time while increasing your bid $1, the first day you will get up to $55. Probably will be successful. If not, the next day start at $56 and work on up to $60. This time the only way you won't be successful is if there is some REALLY major event in Fort Lauderdale. If you want to get it over with in a day, start at $52 and increment by $2 each time. It is indeed possible you will get a different 3.5* hotel, but there really is no way to target a specific one when bidding. If you aren't sure what the free rebid zones are after reading up on them here.RomelleYou ask "how does the rejection process go". All that happens is Priceline tells you the particular bid is unsuccessful. If you want to see exactly how it works, just bid a really low amount like $25 for the 3.5*. Doesn't cost anything but a bit of your time. You are right when you say it looks like you can't lose. While you occasionally read some complaint here, I've never had a real clunker and I've been bidding for years.

ShemaYisrael Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 My maximum budget is about 65$ TO 70$ a dayI've searched The hotels in Fll Area, but now chose to do it somewhere else. Close to me Miramar/Pembroke PinesDue to the high concentration of 3* hotels IN THE ZONE GIVEN. So I guess there's only one way to find out TO BID
Romelle Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Yup - dive in! Or better yet, wade into the shallow end first.Romelle

Romelle Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 For the room specifics - an email to the hotel or a phone call ahead of time can work. Or just politely asking at check-in time. If your check-in is to be very late, it is of course better to ask ahead of time. The hotels tend to be pretty good about granting the king vs two twins requests if they have availability. And also non-smoking vs smoking. Higher levels vs lower levels. I'm glad it worked for you. And next time will be lots easier. RomelleI know you started out initially wanting an airport hotel. I'm curious why you strayed over to the other zone (if it is any of my business)?
ShemaYisrael Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Well I called and asked For a King Suite With Breakfast {6 days in advance} :) (I'll be happy with just a king) But it would make my day with the Suit&BreakfastOh and I strayed because I didnt want to wait 24hrs to bid again so i just selected another area
