AaronJB Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 In terms of the HOTWIRE listing in the first post in this thread, would that be acceptable? What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
fvandewouwer Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 In terms of the HOTWIRE listing in the first post in this thread, would that be acceptable? What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. If I see to the hotel websites and the prices on priceline and hotwire we believe we will not find a hotel under 150 $so that is about the price maximum ( without taxes )looking at TS or MTW hotels our priority is clean and quiet ( not sure if quiet would be possible in New York )thank you so much for your answer I AM SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH MISTAKES BUT IT IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
AaronJB Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 There is a 4* in MTC on HOTWIRE for $149 (the HOTWIRE prices you see may differ slightly) that has not yet been ID'd by the board and a 3.5* MTC for $124.Times Square may not be able to be had at the 4* level at $150 or less, but I'm guessing you may be able to get a hotel within budget in MTW (there is the previously mentioned unID'd HOTWIRE listing in Midtown Central at $149) or MTE (HOTWIRE has a 4* in MTE at $167, but you may be able to get under $150 using PRICELINE.)Have you made any bids so far?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
fvandewouwer Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Hi, sorry for my late response, yes I did try PRICELINE bidding (thourghh this website ) a few times without having any luck ( so far ) tried for both dates, 4* and 3.5 * went up to 140 $ ( with the extra zones ) no luck so far(Midtown West, Upper East Side, Midtown East, Central Park South, Coney Island, Times Square - Theatre District, Brooklyn, Long Island City, Downtown - SoHo - Financial District ) am curious though about the 4* MTC on HOTWIRE any idea ?thanks again for the reply I AM SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH MISTAKES BUT IT IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
AaronJB Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Unfortunately, not sure on the 4* MTC given the limited amount of amenities showing. However, I'm seeing a 4/5 tripadvisor rating showing on the listing's detail page (click "see details" and further down the page, there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating with 4 circles shaded out of 5), which indicates at least this mystery property does get good reviews.Given that you've gone up to $140 on PRICELINE, this option does certainly become an option rather than going much/any higher on PRICELINE. You could try $145 on PRICELINE, but if that's not accepted, then this HOTWIRE listing would certainly be an option rather than going any further on PRICELINE.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Just to comment on the bidding you have already done... are you willing to stay in the Downtown zone as that is NOT a re-bid zone at either the 4* or 3.5* level? Also, when bidding less than 4* in the CPS zone the Hudson becomes a possibility... it gets ok reviews except for the notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) so just make sure you're ok with this as an outcome if you decide to continue bidding the 3.5* or lower level in this zone. As well, some hotels at 3.5* and under in the MTE zone can get a bit far east, although this may be a positive for you if you're looking for things to be a bit more quiet than not.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know how we can help further. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding/purchases. fvandewouwer Posted February 8, 2011 Author Report Posted February 8, 2011 thanks for your great advise, today I tried again ( this morning, must be night for you ) went up to 140 and added empire state area and won hotel 4* hotel Kitano The hotel gets good reviews, it is only for one night ( before our cruise ) and probably for a good night sleep after a long flight so I am happy with it I can use some advise on our next 4 nights stay ( after our cruise ) should I make a new topic for that ? it is just that we would love again a nice clean room in a quiet area but location needs to be perfect ! we love to walk and would love to see in our short time all of New York that is why we prefered the TS / CP / MTW ..... I am willing to try PRICELINE again bidding or shoud I consider HOTWIRE and pay a little more but in the perfect location ?? thank you all again for your time to help me have a great day I AM SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH MISTAKES BUT IT IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
