koulaid Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 I have a question to ask. I'm looking to bid on a airfare ticket and a hotel to miami beach. Which would be best to bid on first. I'm saying this since i won;t know my flight times until i bid. Would the hotel accept late arrival?
thereuare Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 I would secure the airfare fist, but i'll 'warn' beforehand... while you can usually get some sort of deal on a hotel, airfare deals can be far and few between and the percent of discount is usually not as great as we see on hotels. Before doing too much research for a trip i would at least make sure that you're comfortable with 'retail' airfare rates, as you may not be able to get the type of deal you're looking for on airfare. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know if/when you're ready to move forward and we'll take it from there. koulaid Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Alrigt so i just settled for the retail rates since there is a specific time i would like to be there by. Now onto the hotel. Is there anyway i can score a 3.5* or 4* hotel in one of the 3 south beach miami zones for $100 or less? Or would i have to settle for the 3* hotels?
thereuare Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 What are the date(s) of your stay? After your next reply we'll move this thread to the Priceline Florida section of the board and we'll continue the discussion for your hotel stay there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. koulaid Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Date are 4/22-4/26, but im initially open to the whole week. Has to be 4 days though. Also 4/25-4/29 would be fine.
thereuare Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 My guess is that $100 will not likely be enough for a 3.5* or higher for this stay, but i'd try the following and if rejected i'll suggest some other options:At the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* South Beach Central and Ocean Drive...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Oceanfront...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* South Beach Central and Ocean Drive and Oceanfront...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 You're probably not using your re-bid zones correctly so i'd suggest NOT bidding again until you confirm them with the board. What are you using as your re-bid zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. koulaid Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 my re-bid zones aresouth beach - centralsouth beach - ocean drivesouth beach - collins avenue oceanfrontsouthwest miami (because they have no 3.5* hotels)north miami beach (no 3.5* hotels)I did what you said and the first bid i selected south beach central and ocean drive and started bidding nd adding rebid zone and price. After all re-bid zones were done i closed the browser and used the link and it didnt work.
thereuare Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 No, there are FIVE zones (not just two) which only have 3* or lower rated hotels... these are what you should be using as your re-bid zones... NOT any of the South Beach zones. Please confirm your FIVE re-bid zones with the board and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. koulaid Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 I only see 4 not 5 if you are not counting north miami beach.
thereuare Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Try the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter Miami and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest tar rating offered n the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from therePlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
